Artisan Frames
Artisan frames are perhaps best known for our hand-finished frames, which are crafted in the time-honoured tradition of the French and Italian Master Framers or Artisans but with a more contemporary feel.Established in Ireland in 2000, Artisan Frames supplies galleries such as, The Kerlin Gallery, Solomon Fine Art, Taylor Galleries and the Peppercanister Gallery. Our work can be seen in hotels and companies nationwide from Dublin to Cork, such as Radisson SAS & Clarions Hotels, AIB and Fota Island. We work closely with the Office of Public Works (OPW) and Stoney Road Press, fine art publishers who are now our picture frame Agents in Dublin. All our frames are custom made here in Tipperary and though ” it’s a long way “, see how you can access our service by having a look at our agents in Dublin and Carlow.
Our ethos is to supply well-made frames that compliment artwork with a strong sense of contemporary design.
Artisan Frames – Bespoke Framing for Contemporary Fine Art.David Kirwan, originally trained as a sculptor, he returned to Ireland in 2000 to set up Artisan Frames. This followed many years working for a leading picture framing company in London, whose customers include many British artists and institutions such as the V&A, Beaux Art and Redfern Gallery. After a couple of years he travelled to Australia and New Zealand where he worked as a framer in both Sydney and Auckland before returning again to London, this time managing a factory supplying photographic picture frames to Habitat, John Lewis and the Conran Shop.
In 2000, he decided to return home to set up my own picture framing workshop concentrating on the Fine Art side of the business.Since then Artisan Frames has grown both in size and number and there has been a genuine interest for the type of picture framing we do.Artisan Frames offer a bespoke picture framing service in hand-finished frames. We frame both traditional and contemporary art in all mediums, specializing in contemporary framing.
Our next session of Art classes begin in February with the introduction of a new class exploring mixed media painting, collage and assemblage.
The classes were a great success last year and all who took part had a great time and have enrolled again this year. If you are interested in taking an Art Class be sure to book your place soon by contacting us at the shop in Clonmel.
